Blogging Intimidation

I never thought in a million years just how time consuming and difficult starting up a blog would be. The process of signing up for Blogger was SO easy that I mistakenly thought, well...how hard could constructing the blog itself really be? Wrong!! And especially because I have such high hopes to one day be writing reviews and having giveaways on my site, it is all very overwhelming.

I recently tried to add a Navigation Bar to my blog and nearly gave myself an aneurysm just trying to figure it all out. I am a follower to quite a few review and mommy blogs and I love all the clever buttons, the useful gadgets and grown-up posts.

All I can say is, this will be a learning process. And one I might add, that I am not willing to give up on. See, I'm a SAHM of 2 beautiful girls and living in a small town there are not very many opportunities for me here and quite frankly daycare is way too expensive! I am really excited to finally do something for myself, to give me a sense of self-worth and fulfillment (other than raising my beauties).

So what's next? Research and trial and error will be prominent for this blogs future...as well as networking and getting myself OUT THERE! And of course, Blog.

  1. Well said, and far too true. It's actually rather hard work blogging. Worth it? Yes, because it's something I enjoy. But surprisingly hard work. After starting up, I found myself in exactly the space you are describing. Just wait until the review posts start piling up, and you constantly feel deadline pressure. It's crazy stuff. But, like I said, fun.

    Stumbled you.
And I'll be here along for the ride.

  2. I know how you feel. When I first made my blog, it took me 2 months to write an actual post and then I didn't know what the heck I was doing.
I followed a lot of blogs that never took interest in mine so after a few months I decided to stop following them because the feeling wasn't mutual any how.
It's okay and trust me, after a few blog hops, your site will grow. Mine was able to land 100 followers in a few days and I didn't even notice when it crossed 200.
Funny, I follow a bunch of mummy blogs and I'm not one =P but it's cool reading about their lives as mothers and wives even though I'm neither. But you will have lots of fun!
Be yourself and things will fall in place.

Have a great weekend! And feel free to ask anything :)

  3. You're so right! Blogging could totally be a full time job if we let it/had the time. Please let me know if I can help with anything at all...Blogger set-up (although I'm still learning, too), cross-promotion, whatever. Us small, but growing blogs have to stick together! :-)

Thanks for stumbling. I've stumbled back!

  7. You know I started JUST like you and even last night when my Onlywire didn't work, I nearly threw the computer and my husband out the window. I used wordpress which is also not easy so you really do have to stick with it. Your blog looks amazing and I am sure you are going to do just great! Congrats! You've got a follower in me!

  8. Glad to meet you - the best part of blogging is that there is always someone out there with a good tutorial for what you need to do... I usually google what I want and try to find another friendly blog to get the answer from, rather than a website - because the blog is interactive.
Then i follow the helpful blog, because I know that they'll be helpful again ;)
I've stumbled your post and become a new follower!
