Reality Check!

My little girl is officially growing up! Last night my oldest {almost 5} went on her very first big girl sleep over at my best friends house. Her daughter is 6 months younger than mine and they grew up together. My BFF recently went back to work full time so we really don't see them as much as we would like, which is hard to explain to a 5 year old. It would be different if they went to the same school but they don't even have that in their favor.

Anyway, long story short, two weeks ago I invited my girlfriend's daughter for a sleepover at my house and she did awesome! And it was so nice for the girls to have some quality time. So, when my friend texted me on Thursday asking if it was ok to take big sister M for a sleepover I thought it was an awesome idea, but I wasn't sure if she would choke come bed time and want to come home.

Night time came and went and there was no phone call. I decided to get my work out in {since I had chicken fingers, curly fries, and chicken strips for supper!} and I brought the phone just in case she called to say my girl wanted to come home. I grabbed my iPod to put my tunes on and I see that she had posted on my wall that all the kids are sleeping and she did awesome! I felt a lot better.

My little girl got a whole lot bigger in my eyes, and I know that it's only going to get worse from here. Soon she'll be going to school every day and giving me attitude and not wanting her mommy anymore! I hope I'll be ok. At the same time, I know there'll be a thousand more joys and great things that I should look forward to while my little girl grows up. There's just certain times that remind me how fast she really is growing up.

Talk soon, :)

  1. I know how you feel. I get all emotional everytime my kids hit a milestone; it's just another reminder that they are growing up and I have to let go a little bit everytime. I just posted an article about my 10 year old daughter becoming a lady, if you are intersted in funny read http://www.thislilpiglet.net/2011/03/my-little-girl-is-becoming-lady.html

Writing it was full of giggles and tears; I'd love to hear your thoughts about it. :) Congrats to your little one on becoming a bit more of a big girl.
